Frequently Asked Questions About The Law Of Attraction
This Frequently Asked Questions section is dealing with the Law Of Attraction itself- the mechanics and principles. And how to use the processes to shift your vibration.
As always, these are just my opinions. Use your own gut to work out what your truth is. Please seek appropriate professional help before making any major life changes.
The Law Of Attraction states ‘that which is like unto itself is drawn,’ ‘like attracts like.’ We believe that this is a Universal law and everything in our lives is drawn to us. What you think, feel, believe and what manifests around you is all a perfect vibrational match. The way to affect what comes to you in life is to change how you feel and think. Do your best to feel a little better and see how life changes. If ‘How do I feel about this?’ and ‘How can I feel better?’ were the only two questions you were to ask yourself about all the subjects that trouble you and you were to go about feeling better them, watch how life changes. It really is magical to see the results!
Not to get too pedantic but wanting to apply the Law Of Attraction, is akin to saying you wish to apply the law of gravity. The Law Of Attraction is constantly applying itself to you by the vibrational frequency you are emitting.
What you mean to ask is; how can you apply your knowledge of the Law Of Attraction to live a better life?
And the answer to this is: reach for a better feeling thought as often as you can. When you do this, you are in line with your true power and then you can attract to you what you want. It really is that simple – get happier, do this on a consistent basis and watch your life unfold in a multitude of thrilling ways!
You can’t. Not really. Much like the law of gravity or the laws of motion, these are concepts that we use to describe the world around us. And the Law Of Attraction is self fulfilling- if you believe it works, then it will, if you believe it’s a rubbish, then it’s likely nothing will be able to prove itself otherwise to you.
All you can do is work out your own truth in this life. Everyone has a different perspective and view on what is ‘real’ or not. What I encourage you to do is put this to the test. E2 by Pam Grout is an excellent book if you’re scientifically minded and want an explanation of how this works. Whilst this book did not hit it out of the ballpark for me, it helped me shift vibration as so much good manifested for me shortly after reading this book!
When I first started, I committed 30 consecutive days to doing the processes (meditation, listing some positive aspects, doing focus wheels). So many wonderful things happened that it blew my mind and proved to me that this stuff works. That was many years ago and I still do my processes every day without fail. Test this out for yourself and see what happens.
We live in a vibrational universe and every time we have an experience we are naturally asking for things. Every time you’ve been dumped, rejected, failed at something you’ve been asking for more good things and the Universe has lined this up for you vibrationally.
You get your stuff by going into the mode of ‘allowing.’ Releasing resistance- that knot of tension in your stomach, either by focusing upon something so purely you just feel joy flow through you OR by forgetting about it, getting off the subject.
3 STEP PROCESS OF CREATION
1/ Ask- you do this by the natural living of life. You do not have to do anything to complete this step.
2/ Answer- the Universe does this vibrationally for you. Your stuff is waiting for you.
3/ Allow- this is your work. Do whatever it takes to get into a better feeling space and watch how your stuff comes into your life!
Your emotions your Sat Nav or GPS through life. They are the indicator of where you are vibrating. If you are feeling negative, depressed, then you are attracting things which are a match to this. When you are feeling happy, exhilarated and joyful you are attracting that which is a match to these feelings.
If you can become aware of how you are feeling on a moment by moment basis, then this is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. A great way to get started is by doing what Cheryl Richardson advises- set your alarm for every 15 minutes and check in with how you are feeling.
On a basic physiological level, if you are feeling stressed and tense all the time your body is going to constantly be on adrenaline and there is no time to relax and heal. This consequently leads to cancer and other illnesses. Definitely a good reason to watch how you are feeling if nothing else.
Yes! EVERYTHING! It can be hard to believe because it doesn’t seem possible nor does it seem fair. However, knowing this is supposed to empower you, not create self blame. If you could accept that you are in complete control of your life and all that happens to you and all that you need to do is direct your thoughts and feelings in a better direction, then this is the most empowering realisation you can have.
It can be difficult to know why a negative experience has happened to you but if you examine the emotions that you felt around that subject then you would be able to realise the link to how you were feeling around that time.
And 9 times out of 10, it is something you chronically feel and although the manifestations might differ on the surface, they all have the same feeling basis.
Some people, when faced with the idea that everyone creates their own reality, tend to balk at this notion. As I’ve been living this way for so many years it is a little hard for me to understand why it doesn’t feel empowering, but each to their own.
I equate this to someone going to their dining room everyday and being served their 3 meals a day without being able to choose. Sometimes they will love the meal, other days they’ll dislike it but they just eat what they’re given. Then someone turns to them and says ‘You know you can choose what you order for each meal, you don’t have to just eat what is put in front of you.’ Some will reply ‘Oh, I’ll leave it be and just accept whatever. Others will be enlightened, they will check the menu and choose what ingredients go into what meal depending on how they are feeling.
How delicious and empowering is that? To know that you have a choice in how you react and you can exercise that choice in your life. That life is not a series of random events that just happens to you and you have to accept and make do with your lot.
If you’re new, it can be difficult to make the link between your feelings and what happens, especially as this is quite an advanced skill. If you are finding it really challenging to introspect, then try looking out into the world. Whilst you cannot know exactly what is going on inside a person’s mind, you can generally see a pattern. Those who are successful speak of success, they expect it and those who are rich, expect abundance. Those who are always ill are likely to complain about how ill they are or how unfair life is.
So which way is it? They get ill so they complain about illness? Or they complain therefore they get ill? It can be a mixture of the two. Most everyone sees a situation and then reacts. So someone might get ill, then they feel and speak of sickness, then they draw more of that to them and the cycle goes on…
However, knowing what we know, it is possible to break the spell. So if you are ill, you do your best to treat the illness, whilst at the same time minimise the time spent feeling sorry for yourself or complaining to others about how ill you are. Although complaining can feel better for while, especially if you have those who are sympathetic, it is important know that your ultimate goal would be to reach past this into better feelings.
I know that whenever I’ve been ill, it is very easy to wallow in self pity but this does not serve me on many levels. Instead, I just do my best to quieten my mind and play some relaxing music or put on an inspirational speaker. I do my best not to think of anything at all and just breathe. And more often than not, my illness will clear up much faster.
It is a common misconception that one needs language or be an adult to attract. Babies attract through their vibration, just like anyone else. However, as they are not fully formed, they are incredibly sensitive to the vibration of those around them, easily being influenced by their immediate family. This is why family members tend to have the same traits, they all think alike as they spend so much time together.
I personally believe there are some pre birth intentions which dictate the overall essence of our journey but I strongly believe in free will and you are able to change anything at any point if you so desire- that is true self empowerment.
Ultimately yes you would want to, but the distinction here is that you want to stop thinking negative thoughts because they feel so awful and less so because they will bring about bad things. That’s the primary message here- do or don’t do anything because of how it feels and not what it may or not bring about. You really want to be about the good feeling journey, not the destination.
Negative thoughts and emotions are just guidance that you are looking upon something in a different way to the Universe/God/Source is. That is why you feel discord. If Source Energy joined you in your negative emotion then you would not feel bad and you wouldn’t know that it is the guidance letting you know something is amiss. Instead Source holds that pure place of love and appreciation and anytime you deviate from it, it lets you know through your emotional guidance system.
Yes, to a degree I believe that on some level we were energy floating about somewhere, we saw Earth at this particular point in time and said to ourselves ‘I would like to experience that.’ Those who come forth as different in some way (autistic, gay, physically different etc) chose to experience life from a stronger, different point of view because on some level they knew it would draw more from them. What tends to go awry is when those who are different are told by people around them that they are in some way flawed, the individual then begins to wish they weren’t of that orientation and have cut themselves off from who they truly are due to seeing themselves through eyes other than their own.
All of this is God! I believe everything is God made manifest. Whatever you want to call it- God, Source Energy, the Universe etc it all refers to some greater energy, all of which we are. Man tries to separate God from us, as some judging force on high, but I do not believe this is the case.
I do believe we are all interconnected. That we are just a myriad of different expressions of Source and when you get to the core of who we are, we all infinite energy. I read a beautiful analogy in a book called ‘Sati’ by Christopher Pike. The character explains- when you poke yourself in the eye (by mistake) you don’t get annoyed with your finger, because it is a part of you. Similarly when someone else does something negative, you needn’t get annoyed with them as they are part of you.
Instant manifestation is definitely possible. Especially when there is a huge release of resistance through whatever means you have achieved this. For the most part however, there is a delay, or a ‘buffer of time.’ And this is a good thing, because if everything that you thought happened instantly it would be incredibly chaotic. Instead, as you go through life you gain more and more clarity to what you want. You add to creation incrementally and it is created vibrationally. And when your inline with your desire, it becomes manifest.
Not at all- in fact, it’s the very nature of life itself. Many hold the view that money is evil, but this neither is true nor does it serve you. There can be a negative association between physical desires due to theft, crime and greed. However, these actions are all from a basis of lack. When you are truly in alignment and in abundance, you know that there is enough for everyone and there is no lack of any kind and therefore no need for negative actions such as theft etc.
Some religions do teach non-desire and I would disagree that this is the way (at least for me) to reach for. Instead I would lean towards non-attachment, with the realisation that anything you want is because you think you will feel better in the having of it. So it’s ok to want a car, a relationship or well being but know that it’s just for the life flowing through you, for the experience of it all and it’s not about actually getting the stuff. This is a far more enjoyable, exhilarating way of living.
This is a tricky one because religion and their books are open to interpretation and man can use pretty much any part of anything to justify their actions. I’ve heard it said that more people have been killed in the name of religion than anything else- something that I personally don’t think God would want.
Jesus was purported to have chilled with prostitutes and the other people who were disapproved of by society. It has also been written that he said the commandments can be summarised into: ‘love thy God’ and ‘love thy neighbour’ which is definitely in alignment with what we teach.
It can seem like this teaches that it’s the victim’s ‘fault’ but I would completely disagree. First blaming anyone, including the victim is not a good feeling. Secondly it’s not about placing blame, it’s about taking responsibility- saying to yourself ‘so I created this, now what can I create.’ It is an empowered state of being with which you want to hold yourself. And you have to thank the contrast- the ‘bad’ experiences, because they are what made you who you are. So many famous, successful people have been through the abuse and endured great suffering but it gave them the strength to focus and garner greatness from it.
I don’t believe in Hell in the afterlife. I think that some schools of thought can use Hell as a way of controlling you in this life, i.e. if you don’t do what we say, you will go to Hell. I believe that when we pass we all go on to a pure, blissful state of being, no matter who you are or what you’ve done in this life.
Action is an integral part of being physical. It is through action that you express the divinity that is you. However, you want to take action from as an aligned place as possible. Many people think action and action alone can solve anything. But when it is taken from a bad feeling place, then no matter how much you do, you can never do enough. Instead, do your best to line up with a good feeling space, then wait for the inspiration to lead you to the most fun, effective action.
Yes, in a way it is a selfish way of being. Only because if you are not selfish enough to make feeling good your priority, then you have little else you can offer. You must make this top of your to-do list. However, when you are feeling good and in alignment, then you have so much more to offer everyone else around you. And you will want to be there for as many people as you can because you just want to share your joy.
As the old analogy goes- you must put on your own air mask in the event of an emergency on a plane, because you are of no use to anyone if you are unconscious.
I define a process as something you do consciously to feel better. This would include: a list of positive aspects, focus wheels, visualisations, but I would also include: going to a movie, dancing, singing- as long as they are done with a deliberate intent to hold you in a better feeling place.
They are so important because these are the tools you use to shift your vibration and therefore draw more of what you want to you. It is what being conscious is all about! Reach for a better thought and feeling, do it long enough and see how life shifts around you. Even if nothing changes on the outside, you’ll be living a completely different life from the inside.
Countless authors recommend doing 30 day programmes- taking some techniques to feel better (e.g. meditation, lists of positive aspects, visualisation) and doing them for 30 consecutive days. This is because it is an extended amount of time doing something good feeling. And if you can make it to a month, then this usually is enough for it to become a habit. Also, ideally you will be feeling so good, that you will be inspired to do more- there’s no going back. And on a side note it is possible that positive manifestations will have occurred by this point, again inspiring you further.
It depends on you and how you best work. If you are a bit hardcore then you might want to start again from the beginning of the 30 days. However, for a lot of people this might put them off and make them not want to do it anymore. So I would say just continue where you are and try to make it to the 30 days as best you can. Bottom line- be easy about it. Just do something- anything as consistently as you can and then see how life feels so much better.
Start with simple, easy processes that you enjoy. First thing in the morning, I recommend maybe 3-5 minutes of meditation/deep breathing, with some sort of soothing music in the background, then write down 5-10 things you appreciate about your life and 1-3 minutes of visualisation or other focusing technique you enjoy. Modify it to suit you and your preferences, I prefer to meditate with music, others may enjoy silence, just do what feels good to you.
This definitely happens for a lot of people. It can be referred to as ‘all hell breaking loose’ or for those familiar with nutrition and biology, the ‘Herxheimer’ reaction. It is the ‘it gets worse before it gets better’ effect. I believe, it’s a clearing out of old vibration, strongly instilled negative habits fighting to stay part of you because that’s the way it has been for years. Trust that feeling better and focusing positively will eventually reap rewards.
If after a while things are not improving, then it may be the case that you just need to hang in there longer and trust that things will shift, or it might also be the case that you need some extra coaching as it’s easier for a professional to work out if there’s any stuck patterns in how you are living as they are objective.
This is also another common occurrence. Someone finds this and applies it and things soar, manifestations happen, they are feeling great, then BOOM, they hit a bump in the road. I find this to be a pivotal moment, either the person works harder to be consciously happy or they lose faith and forget this work. If they can stick at it and clear the hump, which may be short lived or a bit more persistent (especially if working through deeply instilled negative patterns), then life does get so much better.
This is a concept which I love using, especially as its principles are embedded in mathematics and gaming.
Let’s say I offered you a game- in which over a long time you would expect to win 1p for every £1 played. Would you pursue this deal or is 1p per £1 gambled just not worth it?
Well this is the foundation for Las Vegas, Atlantic City and any casino. The casino’s edge against the player is typically 1-5% in any game offered, i.e. they can expect to win from you 1p-5p for every £1 run through its machines or tables. This does not seem very much but if you multiply that over the thousands of players, gambling hundreds of pounds, over many years, then this is how casinos become worth billions.
This applies to you because doing the processes over an extended period is creating your 1% edge and eventually the scales will tip in your favour and you will get whatever it is you are seeking. You just have to trust that making a conscious effort towards a better feeling is shifting the probability in your favour and whilst there may be losses along the way, you will eventually come out ahead.
NB: This is also the same technique blackjack card counters use to win their millions against the casino- only playing when they have the positive 1%+ advantage. See: MIT card counting teams and ‘21’ the movie.
This depends on you, your schedule and how you best operate. I generally advise people to do the processes when they first wake up as this is a great way to set the vibrational tone for the day ahead and a good time to instil a positive mood. Another good time is towards the end of your day, especially if you have had a difficult day, the focus allows you to wind down. And if you have had a good day, then it is even more of a reason to milk those good feelings!
It’s not wrong, nor counterproductive to have an overactive mind. However, you want the flurry of activity to be in a good feeling direction. Meditation can definitely help slow the mind, but you also want to be able to concentrate it on things which please you. This is practise. You don’t want to stop the mind thinking, you want it to be focused- this is powerful!
I get asked this question a lot. The content of your processes will change as you change. You might wake up and be able to easily list things you appreciate, but on another day you might awaken grumpy and barely be able to think of one positive item. However, as you practise this, it will become easier to find things you appreciate and your list will grow and you will be able to find many different things to fill your book of positive aspects.
You can do these in your head, however there seems to be something potent when you put pen to paper. It’s focusing yourself more powerfully when you do this. You can also use your phone to do your processes. This is a very practical way of doing it and you can do it anywhere. I often do my processes on my iphone when I’m out and about.
Whilst both of these seem opposite ways of aligning, the basis that they have in common is they both help release resistance. Your job is to work out which of these ways works best for you in relation to your situation. If you can still feel good in goal setting whilst at the same time being very specific then continue to do so, with the knowing and confidence that your dream will happen in perfect timing.
If you’re feeling tension or worry when you think of the subject, then I would suggest removing your focus from it and doing your best to let it go and surrender. The withdrawal of negative attention can be enough to allow it into your life. I use the analogy of you obsessively waiting by your phone for a job, or your partner to call you and the minute you step away to go pee, then the phone rings.
First of all I would argue that you do. But more importantly it’s the case of putting yourself first, because when you are aligned then you can get anything done, but when you’re out of alignment, there isn’t enough action in the world that can fix a problem.
It does not take any extra time to switch from a negative thought to a positive thought, all it takes is effort. I’m a huge proponent of making this practical, you can do affirmations in the mirror as you brush your teeth, you can do a list of positive aspects on your bus journey into work, play an inspiring audio book in your car if you drive, there are so many ways to incorporate this into your life. Trust me, when you see how powerful the results are and how good you’re feeling, you’ll want to do more.
This is totally possible, you just need to have your belief in line with this. It is usually the case that you want this to happen easily because you don’t want to go to work, or take the action. And your vibration is more dominant with what you don’t want, than the ease this method could bring you.
You came forth to experience physicality and action is an enjoyable component of creation. And when you’re in an inspired place of being, nothing could stop you taking action and enjoying it, so whilst you could lie in bed and just visualise, it is likely that you will want to get out into the world to mix it up.
I believe life is for the experience and the joy!
Some great resources are: ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne (DVD, book or audio book)- this is a nice introduction to the Law Of Attraction and will help you grasp the theory of it. ‘Ask And It Is Given’ (book or audio book) by Abraham Hicks- this is a powerful book (although it can be a little bit heavy for a beginner), the first half is theory and the second half is 22 practical processes that you can do to shift your point of vibration.
I always recommend taking 30 consecutive days to do some processes- meditation, lists of positive aspects, vision boards, visualisation. Anything that you enjoy and that focuses you in a positive direction. From this, it will enhance your knowledge and take the theory to the next level.
As always, these are just my opinions. Use your own gut to work out what your truth is. Please seek appropriate professional help before making any major life changes.

The character explains- when you poke yourself in the eye (by mistake) you don’t get annoyed with your finger, because it is a part of you. Similarly when someone else does something negative, you needn’t get annoyed with them as they are part of you.
- Can I have instant manifestation?
Instant manifestation is definitely possible. Especially when there is a huge release of resistance through whatever means you have achieved this. For the most part however, there is a delay, or a ‘buffer of time.’ And this is a good thing, because if everything that you thought happened instantly it would be incredibly chaotic. Instead, as you go through life you gain more and more clarity to what you want. You add to creation incrementally and it is created vibrationally. And when your inline with your desire, it becomes manifest.
- Isn’t it bad to have desires or to want stuff?
- This work disagrees with the Bible/my religion!
- I don’t like this ‘blame the victim’ school of thought!
- What about Heaven/Hell?
I don’t believe in Hell in the afterlife. I think that some schools of thought can use Hell as a way of controlling you in this life, i.e. if you don’t do what we say, you will go to Hell. I believe that when we pass we all go on to a pure, blissful state of being, no matter who you are or what you’ve done in this life.
- What about taking action?
Action is an integral part of being physical. It is through action that you express the divinity that is you. However, you want to take action from as an aligned place as possible. Many people think action and action alone can solve anything. But when it is taken from a bad feeling place, then no matter how much you do, you can never do enough. Instead, do your best to line up with a good feeling space, then wait for the inspiration to lead you to the most fun, effective action.
- Isn’t this a selfish way of being?
Yes, in a way it is a selfish way of being. Only because if you are not selfish enough to make feeling good your priority, then you have little else you can offer. You must make this top of your to-do list. However, when you are feeling good and in alignment, then you have so much more to offer everyone else around you. And you will want to be there for as many people as you can because you just want to share your joy.
As the old analogy goes- you must put on your own air mask in the event of an emergency on a plane, because you are of no use to anyone if you are unconscious.
- What is a process? Why is it so important?
I define a process as something you do consciously to feel better. This would include: a list of positive aspects, focus wheels, visualisations, but I would also include: going to a movie, dancing, singing- as long as they are done with a deliberate intent to hold you in a better feeling place.
They are so important because these are the tools you use to shift your vibration and therefore draw more of what you want to you. It is what being conscious is all about! Reach for a better thought and feeling, do it long enough and see how life shifts around you. Even if nothing changes on the outside, you’ll be living a completely different life from the inside.
- Why do I have to do a 30 day process? Why is it so powerful?
Countless authors recommend doing 30 day programmes- taking some techniques to feel better (e.g. meditation, lists of positive aspects, visualisation) and doing them for 30 consecutive days. This is because it is an extended amount of time doing something good feeling. And if you can make it to a month, then this usually is enough for it to become a habit. Also, ideally you will be feeling so good, that you will be inspired to do more- there’s no going back. And on a side note it is possible that positive manifestations will have occurred by this point, again inspiring you further.
- If I miss some days in the 30 days, do I have to start again?
It depends on you and how you best work. If you are a bit hardcore then you might want to start again from the beginning of the 30 days. However, for a lot of people this might put them off and make them not want to do it anymore. So I would say just continue where you are and try to make it to the 30 days as best you can. Bottom line- be easy about it. Just do something- anything as consistently as you can and then see how life feels so much better.
- How do I pick the processes to do?
Start with simple, easy processes that you enjoy. First thing in the morning, I recommend maybe 3-5 minutes of meditation/deep breathing, with some sort of soothing music in the background, then write down 5-10 things you appreciate about your life and 1-3 minutes of visualisation or other focusing technique you enjoy. Modify it to suit you and your preferences, I prefer to meditate with music, others may enjoy silence, just do what feels good to you.
- Things seem to be going worse since I’ve done this positive thinking work!
- Things were going brilliantly, I hit a bump and am having trouble staying focused.
- What do you mean by the ‘long term’? What is the relevance of this to shifting my vibration?
- When’s the best time to do the processes?
This depends on you, your schedule and how you best operate. I generally advise people to do the processes when they first wake up as this is a great way to set the vibrational tone for the day ahead and a good time to instil a positive mood. Another good time is towards the end of your day, especially if you have had a difficult day, the focus allows you to wind down. And if you have had a good day, then it is even more of a reason to milk those good feelings!
- I have a ‘Monkey Mind’, it is constantly whirring!
- Do I write the same list of positive aspects/focus wheels etc every day?
I get asked this question a lot. The content of your processes will change as you change. You might wake up and be able to easily list things you appreciate, but on another day you might awaken grumpy and barely be able to think of one positive item. However, as you practise this, it will become easier to find things you appreciate and your list will grow and you will be able to find many different things to fill your book of positive aspects.
- Why do I have to write my processes? Couldn’t I just list them in my head?
You can do these in your head, however there seems to be something potent when you put pen to paper. It’s focusing yourself more powerfully when you do this. You can also use your phone to do your processes. This is a very practical way of doing it and you can do it anywhere. I often do my processes on my iphone when I’m out and about.
- Should I do goal setting? Or should I let go and surrender?
- I just don’t have time to do any of this work!
- Can’t I just sit at home, visualise something and have it manifest?
This is totally possible, you just need to have your belief in line with this. It is usually the case that you want this to happen easily because you don’t want to go to work, or take the action. And your vibration is more dominant with what you don’t want, than the ease this method could bring you.
You came forth to experience physicality and action is an enjoyable component of creation. And when you’re in an inspired place of being, nothing could stop you taking action and enjoying it, so whilst you could lie in bed and just visualise, it is likely that you will want to get out into the world to mix it up.
- What’s life all about?
I believe life is for the experience and the joy!
- Where’s a good place to start applying this practically?
